MACCA manages
a tri-county program to strengthen career and technical school education
for entry-level and skilled technicians who install, service, and maintain
air-conditioning and heating equipment. This effort combines the talents
and resources of manufacturers, contractors, wholesalers, and educators,
among others in an ongoing program to upgrade technician competency by
improving basic education and training.
In addition
to quality education, MACCA is also concerned with ensuring that enough
students enter the HVACR industry as technicians to properly maintain
the equipment.
Refrigeration
and Air Conditioning Mechanics install, maintain, repair and overhaul
industrial, commercial and residential refrigeration and air conditioning
systems and their component parts. Their duties include working from blueprints
or verbal instructions to mount or place system components; assembling
and installing refrigeration or air conditioning components, such as compressors,
condensers, evaporators and metering devices; and fixing problems in the
unit by replacing or repairing controls, electric wiring or other parts.
