Job Title & Classification: Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician, Non-exempt

Department: Mechanical New Construction

Reports to: Mechanical New Construction Manager Effective Date: 02/27/2026

Job Summary:

The Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician installs, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains commercial and industrial chiller systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled units. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with large tonnage systems, controls, and preventative maintenance routines.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform diagnostics, service, and repairs on commercial chillers (centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating).
  • Troubleshoot and repair related HVAC components, including pumps, cooling towers, control systems, and motors.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Accurately document work performed, parts used, and system status.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, project managers, and customers.
  • Ensure adherence to company performance, quality, and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by supervisor or management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience with commercial HVAC systems, specifically chiller systems.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills
  • Familiarity with BMS and control systems is a plus

Physical Requirements:

During a 10-hour workday, must be able to:

  • Lift/carry up to 25 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, climb, squat, and reach above shoulder for extended periods.
  • Use upper extremities for grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine hand manipulations.
  • Safely climb ladders up to 12 feet and work at elevated heights when required.
  • Safely navigate uneven surfaces.
  • Work outdoors in extreme conditions (heat, cold, etc.) and in tight or confined spaces when required.
